DESCRIPTION:Children's  Clothing Swap (up to 18 years old)\n\nThis is a ne
 w community outreach event – as part of our 2018-2023 5-Year Plan - sugg
 ested by Adrian who indicated she has never found such an event in Texoma.
   The process is straight forward:  people bring gently-used clothing wo
 rn by children.  Volunteers (that’s us\, good people) look it over\, co
 unt the number and give the donor a ticket on which we write the number of
  items turned in.\n\nThe items are put out on tables\, each labeled a diff
 erent size.  They don’t need to be sorted by pants\, shirts\, etc.\n\nP
 eople wander through the chapel shopping for clothing for their children a
 nd can take as many items as they turned in.\n\nNo money is involved.\n\nT
 he date:  December 8th from 10-2\n\nThe place:  The chapel at Red River 
 UU\n\nAnyone who wants to donate items can leave them in the back hall aft

  Independent:\n\nAlready a box office phenomenon\, Crazy Rich Asians is an
  expertly crafted melodrama along Cinderella lines. Shamelessly kitsch but
  funny and affecting enough to get away with its own excesses and many toe
 -curling moments\, this trailblazing film has extra significance as one of
  the first mainstream Hollywood films to feature an all-Asian cast\n\nNot 
 that Crazy Rich Asians wants to lecture us or to spend too long exposing t
 he hypocrisy of most of its protagonists. It’s a glossy\, escapist romco
 m\, after all. The film may be set in Singapore but its characters and the
 mes will be instantly recognizable to anyone who has attended a fractious 
 family wedding anywhere.\n\nWe know exactly how the story will resolve its
 elf\, but the filmmakers still show wit and invention in the way they hand
 le the cliches and take us toward the inevitable (and predictably very sop
 py) finale. Wu makes a likeable and resourceful heroine\, one prepared to 
 use game theory or talk about micro-loans in the developing world if it wi
 ll help keep her relationship with Nick alive.\n\nLike My Big Fat Greek W
 edding\, Crazy Rich Asians has come from nowhere and hit the box office bu
 ll’s-eye. Sequels are bound to follow – and will almost certainly be a

 ng team of Pia Leinonen and Joni Tiala. Their music is characterized by ha
 unting melodies\, Pia's ethereal lead vocals and Joni's virtuosic guitar s
 tylings. In Finnish mythology\, Vellamo is the goddess of the sea. Based i
 n Kokkola\, on the western coast of Finland\, Vellamo combines the rich tr
 adition of Finnish folksong with an appealing “retro” sensibility\, cr
 eating a modern folk music experience.\n\nPia Leinonen\, originally from t
 he arctic region of Lapland\, is Vellamo’s lead singer. Her exquisite vo
 ice combines her love and vast knowledge of Finnish folk music with the we
 stern singer–songwriter tradition in a unique and beautiful way. Her mov
 ing and evocative expression has been compared to other story-centric perf
 ormer such as Joan Baez and Marlene Dietrich.\n\nJoni Tiala\, originally f
 rom the Finnish port of Kokkola\, began playing guitar at the age of 11. H

 ion to his work in Vellamo\, Joni is an accomplished theater and session m

 ycling programs in north Texas so attendees will know what they can recycl
 e at home and at drop off centers. Recent changes in global recycling have
  resulted in changes in some recycling programs and a lot of confusion. We
  plan displays and a recycling resource booklet to help educate the public
 .\n\nWe will sponsor a community wide swap meet in the Municipal Ballroom.
  People can bring clothing\, games and movies and take what they want. The
  leftovers will go to the company that recycles household items and electr

SUMMARY:The 8th Annual Appreciation Dinner
DESCRIPTION:It took our congregation 14 years of renting space before we w
 ere able to purchase our own church home.  We moved into our home in Sept
 ember 2011 and spent the next year cleaning\, dumping\, washing\, painting
 \, ripping out walls\, replacing leaky plumbing\, etc.  The Board of Trus
 tees realized that in a lay-led congregation it is vitally important to ap
 preciate the work done.  So often the results are seen\, but we don’t t
 ake time to tell one another how much we appreciate what was accomplished.
   The Annual Appreciation Dinner was created to appreciate and honor the 
 efforts of so many people\, starting with Bruce Cameron.  Bruce spent hun
 dreds and hundreds of hours leading the effort and doing the bulk of the w
 ork.\n\nIn February 2012 at the first Appreciation Dinner\, the board intr
 oduced the Bruce Cameron Distinguished Service Award.  The award reads:\n
 The Bruce Cameron Distinguished Service Award \nnamed in honor of an indiv
 idual who has performed exceptional service \non behalf of Red River Unita
 rian Universalists members and this facility. \nThe award is established t
 o honor individuals \nwho through their continued efforts \nhave made outs
 tanding contributions\nto the welfare and progress of this church communit
 y.\nThis year’s Appreciation Dinner is Thursday\, February 21\, 2019 and
  the entire community – members\, friends\, newcomers\, visitors – is 
 warmly invited to bring a dish to share as together we gather to offer cel
 ebrate the work we each made to the support of our community.  The highli
 ght of the evening is the giving of the Bruce Cameron Distinguished Servic
 e Award to the 2019 recipient.  This lighthearted celebration includes a 
 shared supper (thanks for each of us bringing a dish)\, some entertainment
  and words of appreciation to those whose labors have assured that we have
  a liberal religious presence in Texoma – not only for ourselves\, but f
