Join us on Sunday, August 30 for a special fifth Sunday service led by our Social Justice Team. Together we’ll reflect on the UU commitment to equality, justice, and civic engagement through worship, music, and shared conversation. During the service, we’ll participate in the UU the Vote program by writing nonpartisan postcards encouraging voter participation. Postcards, pens, scripts, and stamps will all be provided, making it easy for everyone to take part. After the service, all are invited to stay for a postcard party as we continue writing together in community. We hope you’ll join us for this meaningful opportunity to put our values into action. Overeaters Anonymous (OA) is a community of people who support each other in order to recover from compulsive eating and food behaviors. We welcome everyone who feels they have a problem with food. The Lantern Room is a spoken word and songwriting gathering imagined by members and friends of Red River UU Church. We seek to create a welcoming time and place where people can share their creativity and experience the creativity of others. Poetry, original songs, literary readings, storytelling, and other appropriate forms of spoken-word performance are welcome. We propose holding the first pilot of The Lantern Room on September 12, 2026, from 7:00–10:00 p.m. Performances will take place in the chapel, with coffee, tea, and snacks available upstairs in a setup similar to Sunday services. For this first pilot event, performances will be scheduled in advance. Church attendees and others in our community will be invited to participate by signing up ahead of time. Each performance will be limited to approximately five minutes. A host will introduce performers and help keep the evening moving smoothly For more information contact: The Rainbow Team will continue to meet every 2nd Sunday around 1 pm after conversations and calories.
