“13th” An appropriate choice during Black History Month. In this documentary, filmmaker and Selma director Ava DuVernay hovers a magnifying glass over the history of slavery and racial inequality in the United States. She specifically connects America’s dark past with the current issue of mass incarceration and the disproportionate prominence of African Americans in the prison system.
