Friends and Members, It’s that time of year, when Red River Unitarian Universalist Church begins its annual Stewardship Campaign. Starting in February the Finance Team looks at expenses year-to-date and creates a proposed budget to cover July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. This budget must be a balanced budget (required by our By-Laws) so the Finance Team comes up with a target pledge amount goal to balance the budget. This year the Finance Team is forecasting a budget of $50,400. The expenses for this budget are broken into: To cover these expenses a pledge goal of $47,000 ihas been set. Our Stewardship Campaign will run through mid-April. Once the campaign is ended, the actual of the campaign pledge totals is plugged into the forecasted budget and necessary corrections are made to insure a balanced budget. The Board then approves this budget and it is included in the Spring Congregational packet that will go out May 4th. The final agreed to budget is then approved at our May 17th Spring Congregational Meeting. Please pledge as generously as you can. Your support truly matters. Your Stewardship Team Read the March 2026 Newsletter here Earth Day Festival planning committee meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 5:30 at the church. We have started planning for the 18th Annual Texoma Earth Day Festival, which will be held on April 18, 2026. The theme will be Planet vs Plastic. This meeting is open to all members, friends, outside groups, and individuals who would like to help create the next festival. If Emerson gave us a new view of America and American thinking, Thoreau gave us a new way of living and a new vision of each individual. This course has 4 DVDs with a total of 24 talks. We will start this series of classes on January 4th 2026. Robert Arnold is a man for the moment. He provides eloquent, insightful, hopeful and sometimes angry analyses of the current state of our society. He is ‘a lot’. Apart from his on-line presence, Arnold published a book of his essays and poetry in 2025. You’ll find his writing evocative, provocative, and aligned with UU principles. The Board of Trustees meets on the 3rd Sunday each month around 12:45pm following conversations and calories. All are welcome. Overeaters Anonymous (OA) is a community of people who support each other in order to recover from compulsive eating and food behaviors. We welcome everyone who feels they have a problem with food. If Emerson gave us a new view of America and American thinking, Thoreau gave us a new way of living and a new vision of each individual. This course has 4 DVDs with a total of 24 talks. We will start this series of classes on January 4th 2026. This morning’s service is in our 5th Sunday format, even though it isn’t 5th Sunday. This format features a speaker, Walter Norris, who is a docent at the Dallas Holocaust Museum and will talk to us about visiting the museum, followed by an activity – painting stones with names of children who died in the Holocaust for the Upstander Stone Project which will be returned to the project and included in the Holocaust Garden of Hope in Kingwood Texas. Stones have long been and continue to be used as historical grave markers; Jewish people bring small stones to leave on their loved ones’ gravesites, as stones are permanent (as opposed to flowers) and serve as a reminder that memories of our loved ones last forever. The Committee on Ministry meets every 4th Sunday after service. Members are welcome to join us to discuss any aspect of church operations or concerns with those operations or with other members.
