We welcome and affirm people of all abilities. We have taken the following steps to assure that no one is excluded for full participation in the life of our church.

Mobility

Our church building, a turn-of-the-century Victorian estate home, is partially accessible.  The ground level, consisting of the foyer, chapel and two accessible rest rooms, is at grade and fully accessible.

The first floor is up 8 steps.  We have both a chair lift and a vertical elevator which makes the first floor partially accessible to those using wheelchairs or having limited mobility.  There is, however, no accessible rest room on the first floor.

The second floor, which contains the church office, library and two classrooms can only be reached by stairs and are not accessible.

We have two large video screens that assure adequate viewing for video presentations.

Hearing

We have hand-held wireless hearing assist receiver for all who need them.  All speakers during the morning assembly use wireless microphones to assure everyone can understand what is said.  During meetings where people speak from the floor, a volunteers takes a cordless microphone to everyone wishing to speak so all will hear what is said.

Chemical Sensitivity

We use odorless candles and our flaming chalice is a well crafted LED candle (most never suspect).  We refrain from using live flowers and by agreement of the congregation those who are adorned with perfume or tobacco smoke are encouraged to rinse it off before entering the chapel. This is indicated often in the Morning Program..

Pastoral Care

We provide supportive care to all members regardless of ability. To build the beloved community, the volunteers on the care team receive special training to assist those who may feel unwelcome, patronized or marginalized because of their disability. They may not be able to fully remedy every situation, but they can provide a compassionate ear and a willingness to enlist the help of others. If you have a hidden disability that you think it’s important for someone to know, please contact the Ask Me host to share your information in confidence.

We are Service Animal friendly.
