“Time In the Wilderness”

The Rev. Dr. Mark Y.A. Davies, leading

Our experiences and understandings of wilderness are quite varied. For some, wilderness is a place of life-threatening danger. For others, it is a place of trial and temptation. Some look at wilderness as wasted land that needs to come under the control, use, and ownership of human beings. Some see wilderness as a place of great beauty and spiritual inspiration. And some see wilderness as having value for its own sake as a place of biodiversity and flourishing ecosystems. This discourse will explore both historical and contemporary visions of wilderness with special attention given to the importance of preserving wilderness for sake of all life on earth. Read Mark’s bio here

Labor of Love Sunday Workday

This day was a terrific success! We had a good turnout of really eager, cheerful workers who got down to business and finished in record time.

  • Don cleaned the porches and porch lights,
  • David washed outside windows,
  • Doug washed the Sneller Memorial Window in the chapel, polished the pulpit and chalice stand, then cleaned and organized the credenza in the foyer and organized brochures,
  • Jim R. and Walter hauled the green chairs upstairs from the back hall,
  • Cass hauled gray chairs down to the basement and covered them with contractor bags and she took the sheers home and washed and dried them, then spot cleaned the carpet,
  • Jim R. repositioned the curtain rod and hung the sheers and vacuumed the green chairs in the chapel and upstairs,
  • Walter washed windows inside and cleaned out old postings on the bulletin board,
  • Marla, Jim H. and Carole cleaned and organized the office and worship supplies closet,
  • Bruce and Jim H. organized and cleaned the basement,
  • Marion and Elbert organized, cleaned the F. Church Library and added to the Little Free Library,
  • Marsha cleaned and organized the nursery,
  • Amy cleaned and organized the kitchen, made labels for drawers and organized the kitchen closet,
  • Linn and Dawn worked on the Monarch Way Station,
  • Marilyn watched, supervised and told people what needed to be done.

Then, Marilyn treated everyone to lunch at Dragon Thai. Some were

unable to go to lunch and they were missed.

A bunch of items were discarded from the second floor and the

kitchen. These items will be donated to the shelter and

Texoma Family Thrift store.

This was a very productive day. Thank you all for being proactive and working so hard to make our special church home attractive and welcoming.
